Last weekend, there was a freestyle World Cup event at the ski resort. Summer and her friends got to meet Ashley Caldwell who is one of the top US aerialists at only 18 years old. They thought that was pretty cool.

Meanwhile, Paige, Brook and I bumped into Jim Shea, Jr. in the lift line and he rode up with us. We had met him during the 2002 Olympic Games after he won the gold medal in skeleton. He signed an autograph for me during the games and he was letting everyone hold his Olympic medal which was cool (not sure I would have done the same). It was fun to see it up close. He is now married and two children and lives down the street from us. Paige thought it was pretty fun.

All ski season Paige has been wanting to toss Mardi Gras beads on a tree while riding the lift. She happened to remember to bring them with us and happened to toss them on the tree while Jim was with us - coincidentally they happened to be gold :)

We decided to go snow tubing today now that we finally have snow. This is the first weekend the hill was open as the ground was bare a little over a week ago - so unusual for us! The weather was mild and after the first trek up the hill we all overheated and gone were the gloves and the jackets and the hats. We tubed for about an hour just going up and down and it was great exercise for all of us. Then into the yurt for hot chocolate and we watched some of the x games. Awesome day!

We have been busy enjoying a mild January with lots of family activities. Brook is coaching a winter soccer league for both girls, Summer continues to ski with her ski team each weekend, dance class started for Summer last week, after school science class starts this week for Paige, countless school events and parties - thinking about painting my car yellow since I feel like a taxi service at times but I would not change a thing. We ski every weekend with Sunday being our family day together to ski, skate or whatever the day brings us. We finish the day with game centers arranged every Sunday night by Paige (ie. Monopoly, Uno, puzzles, Crazy 8s). This was completely her idea and it has been fun. We are looking forward to February as the days get a little longer and we have two sets of visitors coming to town. Happy January!

And a Merry Christmas it was...The girls were so excited to get tons of American Girl doll things (Kanani doll, shave ice stand,luau set, baking set, musher outfit, dog sled, etc.), they spent hours doing Legos, they made their Wuggle Pets, piles of Littlest Pets and mounds of clothes. It was a fun day and I loved seeing their excitement. After running non stop since Halloween, we were thrilled to have a day hunkered down at home buried under wrapping paper and presents and surrounded by sounds of giggling little girls. Merry Christmas!

Christmas Eve was an awesome day. Summer skied with her ski team in the morning and then we picked her up at lunch and headed to a friend's Christmas party on the mountain. After drinking our share of hot chocolate with whipped cream and marshmallows, we left to ski with Santa. Santa certainly gets alot of attention on the mountain and we had fun skiing with him and watching him carve some turns and make some jumps. For a guy with a big belly he skis really well. He must get quite a bit of practice up at the North Pole with all of that snow. With red faces, sore legs and tired bodies, we all happily climbed into bed this evening and are ready for Santa to come to our house. Merry Christmas!

The first week of Christmas break flew by. We did battle a little tummy bug and some cancelled childcare but we made it through surprisingly well. We skied on Friday as a family and it was a blast. The girls like to go swimming afterwards which makes for very happy and very tired little girls. I love watching them swim as the skiers go by. Only two more days until Christmas!

We just attended two nights of the "Swing Kids" production held by Summer's dance company. The children have been working on this production since September and they did a fantastic job. They sang and danced to songs like "Puttin on the Ritz" and "Great Balls of Fire" while dressed as swings dancers and zoot suitors. Summer was all smiles during the show and was pleasantly surprised when she was called on stage after the show to receive a leadership award for her focus and attention during the rehearsals and the performance. Way to go Summer!

Life since Halloween has been one big blur. We have had a blast with so many fun events with the kids that the time has just flown by. It is hard to believe we are in Mid-December and Christmas is only 13 days away. We have a big week of activities this week and then we get a break for the Christmas holiday. We are looking forward to a fun break with the girls with some family time after the frenzy that has taken place here these last few weeks. Good times!

Paige's Kindergarten teacher hosted her annual Pilgrim and Indian feast last week. The kids enjoyed a full blown Thanksgiving dinner with a whole roasted turkey, stuffing, potatoes, gravy, homemade cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie etc. The kids cooked a lot of the food, making homemade butter, mixing the pies, peeling the potatoes and slow cooking the cranberry sauce. I am hoping that Paige can help me cook this week! It was a fun lead up to the real feast this Thursday!

Grades 1 through 9 hosted a Fall Performance named Freedom and Fosse Funk. The first half of the show was singing and the second half was dancing. Summer's class performed "Shoeless Joe" and the girls dressed as cheerleaders and the boys as baseball players. They did a great job and looked really cute too!

Halloween fun on Main Street

Another fantastic Halloween in the books. Is it me or does this holiday last 30 days longer than when I was a kid? The girls wore their costumes to school and each had a classroom celebration. They had scavenger hunts, spooky stories, made witches brew and had lots of treats. We picked the girls up from school and we went to Main Street to trick or treat. The street is closed for the afternoon and we always see lots of friends. We had beautiful and mild weather which is always a treat this time of year for this special day. After Main Street, we came home, ate some real food and then we were off again into the neighborhood. We got home after 8pm and sorted through the pounds upon pounds of candy. All of us were tired after a very exciting and busy day. Happy Halloween!

The girls were in need of haricuts after a summer of sun and fun and too much chlorine. They were so excited to get a shampoo, cut and style from Jill who has done my hair for 15 years. They looked so pretty!

Pumpkin Carving

We picked two beautiful pumpkins out and carved them over the weekend. The Fall continues to amaze us with beautiful and sunny weather, we get outside every chance we get before winter is upon us. This year was the first year that the girls did most of the work cleaning out the pumpkin, which they loved. We made a mess with pumpkin guts and seeds, but had a blast and cooked the best pumpkin seeds ever when we were done. Happy Halloween everyone!

Paige's class went on field trip to Thanksgiving Point last week. It was a blast. There was a hay maze, a corn maze, a corn pit, giant pillow bouncers, duck races, a hay ride and the kids got to pick a pumpkin at the end of the day. We had great weather and everyone had a great time!

Second grade visited the historic Wheeler Farm on Monday and had a great time. They visited the historic house with original furnishings from the late 1800s, they saw a blacksmith, the saw how wool gets spun into thread, they got to fed and pet the farm animals and they took a hay ride tour of the farm. A very fun day with more beautiful weather.

There was a Fall Festival at school on Friday and we had a blast. There was cotton candy, hot dogs, water ice, kettle corn, games, cupcake walk, a dunk tank, bouncy house, corn launching, mask making, herb planting, face painting, hay rides and a pumpkin patch. The weather was a gorgeous 80 plus degrees and we all enjoyed ourselves immensely. The girls loved running around with their friends playing and eating all afternoon!

Paige's class did a leaf hike today and we had a great time. The kids brought bags to collect leaves that they liked to use in a project in the classroom that afternoon. The colors have been especially beautiful this year and we are trying to enjoy the outdoors as much as we can. The weather was amazing - another 80+ degree day in late September...we are truly getting spoiled. I did this hike when Summer was in Kindergarten and it was held in early October and we had snow suits on as it was freezing. You never know what you are going to get this time of year but I am enjoying the shorts and flip flop weather while it lasts!

The kids were excited to ride in the brand new school bus so that was fun. After the hike, we ate lunch at the park and played for a little while before the kids went back to class. All in all, a very fun morning. Tomorrow is the Fall festival at school and Monday is another field trip with 2nd grade, they are certainly keeping mommy busy and we are loving every minute!

Who says the start of school means an end to all of the outdoor fun...not us! We continue to enjoy each and every beautiful day before the snow flies. Brook's cousins were in town this week and we had a great time visiting with them. The girls loved hanging out with them and playing soccer and having a BBQ. Our pool closed for the season just yesterday and it was a picture perfect day. We are thoroughly enjoying the month of September and we still have five more days in the month!

2nd Grade Hike

The 2nd grade class did a hike last Friday to a peak that overlooks their school. You can see a small speck of a flag when looking up at the hill and the class hiked to the top where the flag is. It was a beautiful day and the leaves are just starting to turn. The weather was beautiful, cool in the morning and downright hot by the time we reached the top. The hike was about 2 hours and the kids did fantastic. When we reached the top, Summer's teacher called the 3rd grade teacher and they came outside to with binoculars to find us and we were waving to them, the kids thought that was pretty cool.

I have had to commit our fall schedule to an old fashioned white calendar and use a highlighters to keep track of all the events we have going on right now.. We have soccer club, team soccer, dance class, after school science, four field trips in the next four weeks, the school fall festival, numerous birthday parties, snack schedules for school, parent meetings, parent dinners, homework for both girls every night and before we know it, it will be Halloween!

We are enjoying the beautiful weather while it lasts and are having fun and keeping very busy!

Goodbye Summer 2011! We had such a lovely visit this year and I enjoyed every minute. There were fun days at the pool, adventures with Camp C, a fantastic 4th of July weekend, a wonderful trip to Ocean City, soccer in the backyard, bike rides, outdoor concerts, golf with the kids, birthday celebrations for my daughter born in my favorite season and aptly named......I am sad to see you go and will count the days until you come back again next year. Please tell your old friend winter to be kind to us and not stay so long this year. We grew weary of his presence last year and he cut poor Spring's visit down to a mere week or so. You, of course, are always welcome to come early and stay as long as you like. Adios Verano....Au Revoir Ete....Ciao Estate....

We attended a Labor Day campfire dinner up at Deer Valley over the weekend and we had a great time. We go on hikes, shoot archery, play games, the kids play in a teepee, we eat dutch oven cooking and make s'mores by the campfire. We saw three bull moose on our hike which is always a special treat. They are gorgeous animals. It was a beautiful evening and a great send off to the summer.

Just because school has started does not mean we aren't enjoying the summer! The girls are in soccer three days a week, dance starts on Thursday, we swam after school yesterday and last week we headed up to the ski resort for some summer fun. We did the alpine slide, the alpine coaster and the girls loved doing flips on the trampoline with the harnesses. We are squeaking out every last bit of the beautiful weather, Happy Summer!

Another fantastic year in the books....Summer is the easiest and most joyful child to be around. She wakes up smiling everyday, she is thoughtful, kind, appreciative, smart and tries hard at everything she does. We are truly blessed to have her as part of our family.

She had a fantastic year developing as a soccer star, a lacrosse player, a skiing powder bear and a mermaid in the pool. She excelled in school and is reading up a storm. She ran over to tell me the funniest thing she just read in Charlotte's Web and she is so excited with each new chapter. Her teachers love her and always comment that she is smiling and focused and tries hard and is a joy to have in class. I tell them it is exactly the same way at home. She lost four teeth this year and we enjoyed the excitement that surrounds each visit from the tooth fairy. It was just an awesome year and it just seems that things get more and more fun as the kids get older....

Summer's 7th birthday party was a horseback riding and nail painting party at an equestrian center near our house. The girls all got to ride a full size horse and got their nails painted afterward. The girls ate pizza and cake and had an awesome time! Happy Birthday Summer, we love you!

Ocean City 2011

We just got back from a fabulous trip to Ocean City, we were busy every minute and came home completely exhausted but smiling. We built sand castles, looked for sea glass, went shell searching, dug for sand crabs,rented a surrey cart, got hair wraps, jumped and ducked under waves, rode the rides, ate salt water taffy, water ice, custard and caramel popcorn, visited my 90 year old grandmother, celebrated Summer's birthday and the list goes on. We finished the trip at my sister's house with a visit from more family and friends and it was a great send off after a fun filled week. The pictures tell the story better than I ever could....

The month of June flew by. The girls have been enjoying a few days of summer camp each week and a day of swimming and other adventures with mom. They have done soccer camp and golf camp as well as a camp run through their school where they take the public bus all over town to story time, the farmer's market and the park. Paige brought me the bus map and showed me how she gets to each place. She is definitely more proficient than I as I have only ridden the bus once or twice in the entire time I have lived here.

My favorite time of the year starts right now. I love July and August here, the weather is amazing, the 4th of July festivities are fantastic, the kids are free of homework and school schedules and I will live in shorts and flip flops for the next two months. Hooray for the start of my favorite time of year - Welcome Summer!

The girls have finished school for the year and today was their promotion ceremony. Summer will be in second grade in the Fall and Paige will be in Kindergarten. Time flies when you are having fun! It has been a fantastic year filled with lots of learning, playing sports, building friendships and watching the girls grow and mature. Both girls had strong academic years and I couldn't be more proud of them. Both are very driven students and love learning, let's hope it continues for many years to come. As a matter of fact, Summer is begging me to read the first book on her summer reading list so I have to go.....Happy Summer!

Growing kids means a few things - new clothes, new shoes and new bikes! Paige learned how to ride a two wheeler this Spring and was ready for a new bike. She graduated to a 16 inch "Angel" bike on which she easily cruises around the neighborhood.

Summer now enjoys longer bike rides on the trails around here and was really in need of some gears on her bike as her little legs were pedaling as fast as they could go up some of the hills here. Over the weekend, Summer got a new bike with six speeds and hand brakes and has made the change so easily. We practiced for a bit on the driveway and then hit the trails. She was so excited with the ability to gear up and gear down and she got the hang of the hand brakes quite easily.

It is so much fun watching these rights of passage with the kids and how proud they are with themselves and their progress....good times.

We are all about Spring sports right now and it is so much fun. Both girls are playing soccer and they love it. We have nets set up in the backyard and they are constantly playing out back dribbling back and forth. I love watching the games and watching their sense of accomplishment with each game.

Summer started lacrosse last week and has been having fun with that as well. Not to be left behind, Paige insists on practicing as well even though she can't play until first grade. That is what I love about Paige, she will not be left behind!

The girls are so excited that soccer has started again. Paige played her first game on Saturday morning at 9am in 27 degree weather and did not care one bit. She was so excited. We have had a busy couple of weeks here. There is always a lot going on with school plus Spring soccer started last week and Brook is coaching both girls' teams. We moved to a new house a little over a week aga, after school yoga starts this week and lacrosse starts May 3rd -oh my! The girls had the day off from school on Friday due to teacher conferences so we kept super busy by decorating Easter eggs, going to a play date, getting haircuts and attending a swimming party. For some reason, it seemed as though I was the only one tired at the end of the day, funny how that is :-)

Another fabulous ski season in the books. We spent lots of fun family time on the mountain this winter but all of us are ready for Spring. As you can see by the photos there is no shortage of snow this late in the year, it could be awhile before Spring gets here. The girls made great strides this year in their ski ability and best of all - they love it! I couldn't ask for more. We have the best conversations on the lift ride and the girls get such a sense of accomplishment as they conquer new terrain. It is a wonderful family sport and we are lucky to be able to participate in our own backyard.

The girls attended their friend Sarah's birthday party last Saturday and had a great time. They got all dressed up in their party dresses and looked so adorable. At the party they made flowers for their hair, got their hair braided, sang songs with Rapunzel and ate delicious cake with their friends. Happy Birthday Sarah!

The girls had their first ski race today and they had alot of fun. While no speed records were set in today's event, the smiles were a mile wide and the girls ate their body weight in cookies and brownies. They even got medals for participating in the event and they were just thrilled.

One of Summer's little buddies at school named Sarah has a disease called SMA. It is a muscular disease and has rendered her unable to run and she can walk but she walks with a limp and falls alot. Sarah does therapy at this amazing facility in town geared toward adapting sports and leisure activities to those with handicaps and they do amazing work. Summer and Brook and several other fathers and daughters from Summer and Sarah's school attended a fund raising dinner for the facility and they had a fantastic time. It was at a fancy hotel in town and they had the time of their lives. Summer came home all lit up late at night and told me the hotel was so fancy, it was like Daddy Warbuck's house in Annie. Precious times.....

We had Paige's party one week later than planned (on March 11th) but it turned out perfectly! She had the time of her life and was completely better from her illness of the previous week. We held it at a brand new indoor playground and the kids, ran and jumped and climbed and slid for hours only surfacing to eat some pizza and cake. Paige was all smiles and we were happy that she finally got to enjoy her big day. We love you Paigey!

We have been living our own version of March Madness this month with endless activities, all four of us being sick at the same time, Paige's birthday and party and a heavy workload for mom this time of year. It has been challenging but we are more than halfway through this crazy month.

Here are some photos from Paige's actual birthday. She came down with a tummy bug on the morning of her birthday and could not go to school and we had to reschedule her party because she was so sick. Poor kid could not keep any food down so she could not even eat the cupcakes we made to bring to school. She still managed to enjoy opening her presents and once again the theme was all things Tinkerbell! Happy Birthday Paige, it was one to remember for sure!

Happy Birthday to our little sweetheart Paige! You have had an amazing year. You showed us that you are a little soccer star, an great little skier, a determined swimmer, a bright student, a great friend, a nice sister and precious daughter. You have so much love and affection to give and we have enjoyed another year having you as a part of our family. You are so bright and sharp, your wit and humor keep us laughing. You surprised us after Christmas by telling us you could read and you did and you continue to read books that most other kids are reading in kindergarten or first grade. You try so hard with skiing and I loved hearing the story of how your "buddy" Brian was cheering for you from the ski lift while you skied the moguls. Your smile was so wide and your face was all lit up as you told me - of course Brian is 27 years old which makes it even funnier. The best quote of the year was when someone jokingly asked you if you spelled your name like the page in a book and you told told them no, P-A-I-G-E. Then they said, "Oh your parents added an I to make your name." Without missing a beat you said, "No, everyone else took the I away to make the word page". As we say, it is your world Paige, we are just visiting. We love you! You are the perfect addition to our family and we can't imagine life without you. Have a Happy 5th Birthday! :-)

Summer participated in her first Science Fair this evening and she did a fantastic job. She decided to do a project on how heat from the sun is affected by color. She did most of the work herself - she painted the bottles, filled them with water, took the temperature of the water before being placed in the sun and again after 20 minutes in the sun, she recorded her results, typed the project on the computer and assembled the display board. She was very proud of her work product and so were mom and dad. Even her science teacher told me she was very articulate in her explanation of her project so great job Summer! We are proud of you!

The Early Childhood Program at school had a performance called Disney Follies. The kids were asked to dress up as their favorite Disney character and it was no surprise that Paige chose Tinkerbell. After all, I was just informed by Paige that the theme of this year's birthday party will once again be Tinkerbell, making it the third year in a row. Paige and her friends did a great job!

Last week, much to our surprise, Paige told us she could read. She picked up the Dick and Jane books and started reading them to us. She was so excited with this new found skill. She constantly wants to read new books and work on sight word flash cards. It has been really fun to watch. When you are the little sister, there is no way you are going to be left behind. If Summer can read so can I even though I am only 4. You go Paige!

The girls waited until 7am to come down to open their presents. Brook did have to remind Paige at 3:30am that it was "not time yet". Paige was ready to go at 7am and I woke up Summer. Summer leaped out of bed, rubbed her eyes, looked at the clock and said, "Wow, that was a short night!" They both actually brushed their teeth before they went downstairs and then the fun and craziness ensued. They got everything they wanted and more - American Girl dolls, pillow pets, Furreal Friends, Littlest Pets, doll clothes, doll ski wear, a wardrobe closet for the dolls, tons of clothes, books, earrings etc. It was a joy watching them have so much fun.

We had a magical day before Christmas on the mountain. The weather was perfect for December, comfortable temperatures and beautiful ski conditions. A friend of ours who lives on the mountain held a party and everyone skied over to his house for some great food and festivities. After the party we skied some more and Summer was lucky enough to ski and ride the lift with Santa. It was certainly the highlight of her day. Kids were cheering from the lift as Santa skied by. Then we visited with Santa some more at the lodge and Paige finally worked up the courage to sit on his lap. We hung out with friends at the lodge and just had a super fun day. We came home at the end of the day nice and tired and we all went to sleep early so that Santa could come to our house.

December has been amazing. We have had so much fun with the girls with the excitement of Christmas, the start of the ski season, fun activities at school and gatherings with friends. The girls have been doing an after school ski program with their school and have had a blast skiing with their friends. We have received lots of snow and have had fun sledding and building snowman and making snow forts. We went to our neighbor's annual Christmas party and Santa came for a visit. This year neither one of the girls wanted to sit on his lap. They told me that since they emailed their list to him already, he knew what they wanted. Pretty funny. I told Brook that I am almost disappointed that Christmas is actually this Saturday as I don't want this Christmas magic to end.

No grass grew under our feet over Thanksgiving Break (and if it did we could not see it anyway under the foot of snow we received in the past week.) We decorated gingerbread men and gingerbread houses, we went sledding, we decorated the Christmas tree, we skied not to mention indulged in a delicious Thanksgiving feast hosted by our friends the Eldridge family. It was a fun weekend and the girls are in full Christmas spirit. Paige is really the most excited we have ever seen her about Santa. She and Summer have written and rewritten their Christmas lists. They have bought and wrapped a present to each other. They constantly chat about what the present might be, what letter does it start with, is it on my list, etc, etc. I keep telling them it is only November and they tell me that there is no way they can wait until December 25th for Santa to come to our house. Let the Christmas season begin!

As part of the arts program at Summer's school, there was a visual art gallery displaying all of the student's art and a performing arts show this evening. The theme this Fall was Humanity and Hip Hop into happiness and Summer really got into it. She was so excited to dance and sing and dress as a hip hop dancer. The kids worked really hard and were fun to watch. Summer did a fantastic job and we are so proud of her. Video will be posted soon.

Wow, what an amazing Halloween. We attended two Halloween parties on Saturday where the girls decorated haunted gingerbread houses, carved pumpkins, decorated cookies, played games and did a treasure hunt. On Sunday, we trick or treated on Main Street where the girls got cotton candy, huge Wonka bars and giant lollipops. They saw a bunch of their friends and just ran all around gathering candy and socializing. We then went and trick or treated in our own neighborhood where we crossed paths with a moose which is always a special sight. And finally went to our old neighborhood where the girls got to enjoy a more traditional setting of seeing houses all decorated, going house to house and ringing door bells. It was a super fun weekend and we are all smiling from a fun weekend!

Summer and Paige each had their Halloween parties today at school. There was an all school costume parade down to the gym and then there was a costume contest. Summer won the "best hair" category for her very long and very red Ariel locks. She was thrilled. Paige won the guessing contest in her class. She had to guess how many lollipops were stuck in a pumpkin. She guessed 90 and there were 91. So guess what we got to take home? Anyone need 91 lollipops?

It was a super fun day and all of us had a blast!

Did I ever mention how much it is to be a parent of these two girls? The fun never stops and there are daily doses of pure joy. Summer wrote the tooth fairy a thank you note all by herself. She said since she could not call her to say thank you, she figured she would write her a note. Quite a thoughtful kid. Summer learned how to ride a two wheeler this week as well. We were so busy all summer with swimming and soccer that bike riding was not high on the list. Now that swimming and soccer season are over, Summer turned her attention to building her biking skills and away she went. We did lots of chalk art this week and covered almost the entire walk and lower driveway which was fun. We can hardly wait for Halloween next week!

Another busy and fun Fall weekend. The girls had off from school on Friday so we went to the Zoo with our friends the Barbers. The weather was more Fall like with cool temperatures but that did not stop us from being outside. We got to see the new baby elephant which was the highlight of the day. We also had three birthday parties over the weekend which was a lot of fun for the girls. Paige had her final Soccer game on Sunday and Summer has her last soccer game tonight. I included a photo of Paige showing off her All Star trophy - way to go Paige!

Summer lost her first tooth last night. The tooth was moving a little bit over the last few weeks but I thought it would be a little while before it came out. Last night, Summer came into the kitchen and said mom my tooth is bleeding. I took a look and the tooth was hanging by a thread. I pulled the old, "Here honey, let me use this tissue to see if I can dry it off and stop the bleeding" trick. I know my dad did that with me on one of my teeth as a kid. I barely touched the tooth and it fell out. Summer could not believe it. She and Paige were squealing and jumping around. The energy level was off the charts, it was a very exciting event indeed. Summer put her tooth under her pillow and the tooth fairy left her money sprinkled with fairy dust. A nice surprise in the middle of the week.......

Brook and I spent 24 hours up at the St. Regis resort last weekend away from the girls and it was so much fun. The weather was perfect and we sat outside all afternoon listening to live music on the deck. We watched the traditional sabering of the champagne bottle and enjoyed a fabulous dinner. We watched some football, slept in late, went for long walks and enjoyed interrupted time together. The girls had a blast with their babysitter and did not even miss us. We were all glad to see each other on Sunday afternoon and everyone is recharged!

We have had the most amazing Fall this year. The weather has been beautiful with sunshine and warm temperatures. Everyone in town has been out and about taking in all there is to do outdoors before the weather changes in the coming month. We have spent lots of time outdoors enjoying the nice weather with soccer games, visits to the park, outdoor concerts, swimming (yes swimming in late September!), birthday parties, pony rides and scarecrow making.

The girls have loved playing soccer this year and have really enjoyed being part of a team. Summer is a great little hustler on the field and has made some great defensive plays preventing goals by the other teams. She has also scored some goals as well. Paige had a fast break goal last week and dribbled the ball the length of the field and scored. She looked right over to me to make sure I saw it and then came running across the field and jumped into my arms with excitement. She scored another goal later that game. These are very good times indeed!

Our school held an outdoor scarecrow festival last Friday, October 1st in 80 degree weather, it was beautiful and downright hot! The girls and I made this Cinderella scarecrow. Summer made the clock that she is holding, she painted the face and cut the strands of yarn for her hair. Paige helped with the stuffing and ribbon and of course ate lots of snacks. The girls kept saying "Cinderella - she'll scare off your crown." Happy Fall everyone!

We have hardly taken a breath since school started. We have soccer four nights a week between both girls, tons of birthday parties, back to school picnics, homework to do and we are trying to spend as much time outside as possible before the days get too short and the weather turns. Fun, fun, fun - I would not change a thing, we are having a blast!

The girls are doing awesome in soccer. Summer scored a goal in only her second game and Paige (not to be left behind) scored a goal in only her third game! It was so cool to see the kids so excited about the goal and watching their friends high five them and pat them on the back, I just love team sports. So proud of my little soccer stars!

School started today and the house is quiet. We had one of the best summers ever but it was definitely time to go back. Echos of, "I'm bored, I don't want to swim, I don't want to go to the park" were starting to be heard and we all began to crave the structure of the school year. The teachers for this year seem great and the girls are excited to reconnect with their friends and make new friends. The girls were giddy with excitement over new shoes, new uniforms and new lunch boxes. Summer cannot wait to do MATH and Paige loves getting messy with art and cooking. We are all excited for a fun year ahead :-)

Paige started soccer today and did awesome. She picked jersey #3 since her birthday is the third day of the month. She listened, tried hard and ran as fast as she could. You could see her independent spirit and confidence shining through. She was so excited about her first practice and we were all very proud of her. Go Blue!

Soccer is four nights a week between both girls and runs until mid October, should be fun and will certainly keep us busy :-)

Summer's very best friend from school, Margaret, was having a dress up princess party the day after Summer's party. Summer told me she wanted to go as Ariel but she did not have red hair and I needed to get her a wig. Lo and behold, it is amazing what you can find on the internet - a very lovely red Ariel wig. She wore it the entire party despite the fact that it was 80 degrees outside. When we got into the car, she asked to change as she was very hot and said, "Whew, it is alot of work being a princess."

Summer and her friend Ashley both share the same birthday so they decided to have a double birthday party this year. Summer turned 6 and Ashley turned 4. Everyone met up at the pavilion above the pool and Princess Belle surprised the girls with a visit. Belle sang songs, read a story, played duck duck goose, did a craft and made balloon animals for the kids. She is a very talented princess. Then the kids ate cake and went swimming. It was a fantastic party. Summer was still talking about it the next day, saying it was the best birthday party ever. All the effort is completely worth it for that bright smile of hers. Happy Birthday sweetie!

Another amazing year has passed with one of the coolest and most fun kids ever. Summer is such a great kid. We count our blessings everyday for the joy she brings to our lives. She is fun, adventurous, kind, thoughtful, bright, motivated and she thrived in kindergarten this past year. Summer learned to read this past school year and was a whiz at math. Despite being one of the youngest kids in the class, she was praised by her teachers for being an excellent mathematician and reader.

Summer is an excellent big sister and has great patience with a very active and busy little sister (who forgets she is an year and half younger). Summer teaches Paige things like how to do buttons and tie shoes. She lets her play with her toys and sleep with her favorite stuffed animals. She consoles her when she is hurt and looks out for her at school. Paige is lucky to have such a caring older sister.

Summer has the best attitude in everything she encounters. She has really developed as a skier and ice skater and has shown a lot of interest in those sports. She floats around the house singing and dancing on a daily basis and she starts soccer next week. Her tastes in clothing are beginning to change and I was informed last week that all things Dora must go because she is starting 1st grade in a few weeks and Dora is for little kids.

I just smile writing this because Summer is really so much fun. I enjoy hanging out with her and chatting on the ski lift or on the ride to school. She is witty and smart and continues to amaze me each and every day.
